CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer and an offender were shot Thursday evening in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police and fire departments.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. near West Ferdinand Street and North Avers Avenue.

The Chicago Fire Department said an officer was shot and taken to Stroger Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An offender was shot and taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, according to the fire department.

Another officer was taken to Stroger Hospital with a minor medical issue, according to the fire department.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability said its investigating the incident and is asking for anyone with information to contact them at 312-746-3609 or online.

Chicago police said they would be providing information from Stroger Hospital.

Skycam 9 was over the scene and saw several evidence markers in the area.

Gunshots could be heard through police radio traffic as officers were calling a 10-1 police emergency.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson visited the injured officer at Stroger Hospital.
